River and land connections
Current trade in Yurimaguas is provided to the following destinations:
YURIMAGUAS - SAN LORENZO – SARAMIRIZA
- Motor vessels for passengers and cargo(general, cargo, sacks, cylinders, beer).
- Capacity: from 50to300 Mt
- Transport of passengers in the so-called "lleva-lleva" (100 pax)
- Travel time: 17 hours either way
- Inner cargo holds made for manual lashing
- Berth Abel Guerra handles 90% of the route, 10% by La Boca.
YURIMAGUAS – OIL CAMPS
- Shipment of gear and supplies to oil camps: fractioned cargo every 10 days 400 Mt – 6000 Mt yearly (5700 Mt in 2010).
- Raw material and equipment for camps: pallets 600 Mt monthly, natural barium, explosives, drills, greases, lubricants, etc. Little incidence of dangerous cargo (400 Mt of ammonium nitrate 3%. Frequency: every 15 days. 12000 Mt yearly (10.2 thousand Mt in 2010).
- Project cargo: containers. No periodic frequency. Aprox. 22 Mt per 20' and 30 Mt for 40' containers. Machinery from 15 Mt to 40 Mt.

YURIMAGUAS - IQUITOS
- Motor vessels for passengers and cargo (general cargo, sacks, cylinders…even live animals).
- Load capacity from 300 to 1000 Mt. Two 500 Mt daily departures, every other day from 600 to 800 Mt.
- Authorized passenger capacity, exceeds in 50% (authorized one of 200: 250-300 passengers).
- Inside cargo holds are made for manual lashing; cranes or forklifts cannot enter.
- Most important river transportation: boat lines Eduardo and Gilmer.
- The landing berth of La Boca handles 95% of the cargo on the Yurimaguas-Iquitos route.
YURIMAGUAS – PUCALLPA
- 2 monthly departures, 2000 Mt of boxes with full bottles, towed convoy+3 barges, takes 4 days.
- Empresa Naviera Oriente (NAO), related to Backus beer brewery.
- Frequency: winter, every 15 days; summer and holidays, every 10 days.
- Return 600Mt, 6 days.
- Hoist with roofs only allows manual handling of cargo. 5 to 6 days port use in Yurimaguas.
- NAO berth in Pucallpa has no facilities for pallets and containers.
